DOWNTOWN DAILY BREAD LUNCH PREPERATION – St. James will once again prepare lunches for our brothers and sisters at Downtown Daily Bread in Harrisburg. Please join us on April 27th at 9:00 a.m. sharp to assemble 100 lunches that we will transport to Downtown Daily Bread later that morning. If you can provide something for the lunches, please sign up on the board in the narthex or drop an email or text to Steve Grubb (stevengrubb@comcast.net; (717)576-8145). This is open to ALL AGES!
NEW SUNDAY MORNING STUDY – After spending the past several weeks studying the spiritual disciplines, the Sunday Morning Small Group is going to relax with some wine. No, we are not going to be drinking wine at 9 in the morning, but we will be studying “Wine in the Word” by Gisela H. Keglinger and Randy Frazee (our old friend from the Story and Believe). We will be exploring wine’s place in the Bible, in the history of the church, and in the church’s feasting and fellowship today. This is a video-based study – no book or reading is required. We will start the new study today at 9 a.m. in the library.
STUDY GROUP – The Wednesday night study group is starting the book, Lent in Plain Sight A Devotion Through Ten Objects by Jill J. Duffield. Let Karen Howenstine or Barb Hughes know if you would like to join us. Books are in Barb’s mailbox in the office.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We are looking for volunteers to help with Sunday School. There are lesson plans available, but you can just let them play if you prefer. When it gets nice, we like to take them outside to the playground for a little while. There are presently 4 of us running the Sunday School so you would only be responsible for a maximum of once every 5 weeks. SAVE THE DATE – Save the date for Vacation Bible School which will take place 6/16/25- 6/18/25 from 6:30pm-8:00pm! We will have fun singing, playing games, and learning about the love of God! More information on registration will be coming soon and we are also looking for volunteers to help host this event.
DINNER GROUPS – It is time once again to mix up the dinner groups at St. James. This is an opportunity to go out to dinner monthly with some other members of the congregation. This provides a time to get to know people on a more intimate level. Please look for the signup sheet on the greeting table in the narthex and we will also be passing this around during the service. Please indicate what evenings work best for you. We are also looking for a third leader to coordinate these groups. This includes contacting group members to decide dates, picking restaurants and making reservations. If you are interested in coordinating a group, please contact Karen Howenstine at (717) 576-0879.
PER CAPITA – Many have asked – What is the Per Capita amount, sorry for the delay. The 2025 amountrequested of us for each member is $34.04. This includes $10.84 for the General Assembly, $2.40 for the Synod of the Trinity and $20.80 for the Presbytery. Your designated gift for Per Capita is very helpful. Thank you.
